Find tickets with Google Flights
Google Flights Looking for the best flight tickets? With Google Flights, the new service of the search engine giant, you will find them quickly.

The new service from Google offers a handy overview of different providers. You enter a destination and choose the departure and return date. Then Google Flights generates an overview. Google Flights has two very useful options:

A world map on which you can see numerous destinations with the return price within the period of your choice.
A monthly overview showing the daily return price. This way you can see at a glance what the best departure date is.
Google does not, however, have information available from all companies. Currently these are Lufthansa, Ryanair, EasyJet, Transavia and Arkefly.

Google stops using API to search for airline tickets
Google will stop next April with the QPX Express API, which makes it possible to compare prices and availability of airline tickets. New users are no longer accepted, and existing ones receive a discount on the rates.

The focus of Google in the field of travel seems to have shifted from tools for developers to consumer tools.

The expectation is that a large number of travel start-ups that sell flights via the API and earn money there on an affiliate basis will be the victim of this step from Google. How many users there are and what Google earns with the QPX Express API is not known. For the victims there are of course alternatives available, such as Skyscanner, Fareportal and Skypicker.

Google itself has the Flights service for consumers who want to book airline tickets. With the abolition of the API, the search engine thus takes the wind out of the sails. Google itself says to TechCrunch that disappointing use is the reason for QPX Express API discontinuation. The version for larger companies, QPX Enterprise, will continue to exist.

Furthermore, from December on Google will keep up with the OnTheFly mobile app, with which plane tickets can be searched. Users can go to Google Flights, according to the internet giant.
